Oh, boy! I was super, super bummed that I had to miss this night. On the other hand, I had some serious family issues to work out with Mom, who had scheduled her flights months in advance. So, I just rolled with it. But when I heard about the bust out of Help-> Slip? Ouch. (I made up for it the next night, though . . .)

This recording, though, WOW. The matrix balances the SBD beautifully. There is that Hampton buzz afoot, as the crowd is roiling with energy. It's a recording crisp on the top, sharp Jerry midi-work and hi-hats, with some of the hall's resonance. Phil seems to be the only factor not fully dialed in, here. Not quite sure why.

Some people prefer this night's performance to the next night's, overall. I'm not going to say such things. How does one follow a really, really full meal like this? How about an even BIGGER meal the next night?
